One thing Lou DiBella and Big Gary Shaw can agree on is that none of their fighters should fight for free. Eliminate the “r” and then let them rumble. Just as long as the promoters know there is a certain payday.
Which, I guess, is why a shocked DiBella just phoned Boxingconfidential to report breathlessly that his champ, Cristian Mijares, nearly went to blows with bigmouth Aussie Vic Darchinyan Wednesday in the lobby of the Doubletree Hotel in Carson, Ca.
“Darchinyan keeps talking shit and Cristian just heard enough. Darchinyan said he was going to put my guy in the hospital so Cristian said, ‘Let’s do it right here and now.’”
DiBella said the potential preflight skirmish was broken up by acolytes of both fighters.
The Doubletree lobby might have to be declared a no go zone.
